This year marks Heather’s 23rd year of professional teaching. In addition to maintaining a studio of over 50 students, Heather is the music director at Russell United Church and teaches general music classes within the Upper Canada District School Board.
Heather began piano lessons at the age of 4 and achieved her grade 1 Royal Conservatory piano exam at age 7. By the age of 14, she had attained her grade 9 piano and had begun teaching. Throughout her teens, she also held a part-time church position, accompanied various instrumentalists for their own conservatory exams and accompanied a church choir several times a year for their Christmas and Easter cantatas.
Heather is a classically trained pianist who achieved her B.Mus. designation from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1994 and concurrently earned her A.Mus. from the Western Board of Music.
Heather is MYCC certified and taught the Music for Young Children program for more than 15 years. She is also a member of both the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. Heather is certified by the Royal Conservatory of Music as an Intermediate Specialist in Theory and an Advanced Specialist in Piano. In 2016, she was the recipient of a Steinway and Sons Top Teacher Award.
Heather’s goal is to foster a life-long love of music in each of her students.
