This year marks Heather’s 24th year of professional teaching. Before moving to Lake Country in July 2018, Heather maintained a studio of over 60 students, was the music director at Russell United Church and taught general music classes at 4 elementary schools in Eastern Ontario.
Heather began piano lessons at the age of 4 and achieved her grade 1 Royal Conservatory piano exam at age 7. By the age of 14, she had attained her grade 9 piano and had begun teaching. Throughout her teens, she also held a part-time church position, accompanied various instrumentalists for their own conservatory exams and accompanied a church choir several times a year for their Christmas and Easter cantatas.
Heather is a classically trained pianist who achieved her B.Mus. designation from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1994 and concurrently earned her A.Mus. from the Western Board of Music.
Heather is MYCC certified and taught the Music for Young Children program for more than 15 years. She is also a member of both the BC Registered Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association. Heather is certified by the Royal Conservatory of Music as an Intermediate Specialist in Theory and an Advanced Specialist in Piano. In 2016, she was the recipient of a Steinway and Sons Top Teacher Award.
Heather’s goal is to foster a life-long love of music in each of her students.
